Luke Thorpe seems to be a run-of-the-mill, average, and some would say nerdy student. He loves math and chess and is an excellent member of the debate club. And he takes his job as class monitor seriously.

But Luke is starting to change. He wakes up to find his bedroom in shambles. He starts having weird dreams and howls in his sleep, even waking his mum who usually sleeps through everything. Then come the hallucinations and sudden cravings for raw meat and fresh roadkill. Yes, roadkill!

Luke, the mild-mannered, unpopular student, is a werewolf, and not just any werewolf, but an alpha werewolf, a leader of the pack.

Under the tutelage of his mentor and fellow alpha leader, Ryan, Luke learns to control his transformations because, as Luke says, 'the tabloids would have a field day if I ate someone live on Question Time. You'd need a good PR guy to put a positive spin on that.'

What Luke does not know is that Ryan is grooming him for an upcoming battle between the werewolves and rival vampires. Will Luke join the war? You'll find out when you pick up this (easy to read, journal style, illustrated) chapter book for readers aged ten to fourteen to find out!
