Thanks to author Jeanne Matthews and Her Boyfriend's Bones, Dinah Perelin returns with another mystery this time taking place on the Greek island of Samos.

In 1973 on this remote beach on this tiny island, Marilita Stephan murdered her boyfriend and his mother as well as a powerful colonel in the military junta. For which crime, Marilita was sentenced to death. Much speculation exists, even today, as to whether Marilita was truly guilty of the crime.

Dinah and her boyfriend Thor, a Norwegian, plan to spend break time on the island before Dinah joins an archeological dig nearby. The locals of the small village where they have rented a house for the summer regard them with suspicion. Apparently U.S. military guns are being sold to terrorists by way of Samos and are turning up in Norway. Many refugees are fleeing the Middle East and settling in Samos. This leads to great speculation as to who can be trusted. The locals? The disreputable monk? The man who owns the tavern? Marilita's sister? Any of the refugees? Even Thor, in Dinah's mind.

Her Boyfriend's Bones has a complicated plot that is not easy to follow. But, hang in there. There's enough action to keep interest. Fake IDs. Illicit gun sales. Corrupt cops. Moonshine. Twisting mountain roads that are barely wide enough for a small car.

When in high school, I learned a lot about the Greek gods and their myths. I just discovered I had forgotten most of what I had learned. And after reading Her Boyfriend's Bones, where many mentions are made of Greek mythology, Im still not sure I will remember now.
