If you are a car racing fan, oh, boy, is this the book for you. If mysteries are your thing, you have a winner before you. If you're hooked on both, for heaven's sake, don't miss Braking Points by Tammy Kaehler.

Kate Reilly is a racecar driver. She is aware of all the ups and downs that are part and parcel of that career. Having suffered a collision with another driver at the Road America in Wisconsin, Kate not only has the disappointment of losing but must suffer the blog of a person who hates women in the cars. His doing his best to ruin her career is bad enough. But when her friend is poisoned with a doctored drink that was probably meant for Kate, that puts her on alert for her life.

A car tries to run her down when she is in Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans race; more malicious blogs appear online. Who is trying to get her fired? Or to kill her? One and the same person? Or are there two people who hate her enough to attempt to destroy her?

The racing scenes in the book are incredible. I almost felt I was in the Corvette with her. Together, we went through putting on all of the racing gear necessary to protect the driver in case of accident. Felt the exciting pit stops. All of the tricky turns on the course. The exhilaration when things go right. I became a part of the fan base. Became a part of the large racing family and felt the competition between members of that family who looked out for each other. And looked askance at a man who could be deemed a stalker.

Thrilling, exciting, and at times breathtaking, Braking Points is a book not to be missed.
