Wren MacAvoy lives in a domed city and works as a coal miner deep underneath it. Her favourite activity is to sneak out in the morning to the very top of a building to watch the blurred sunrise, even though it is forbidden. Wren has always wondered whether anything exists outside the thick domed glass aside from the fires that have been burning for hundreds of years.

She knows that the city was built to protect the royals and to keep their line intact. But to her, it seems like a prison with way too many rules. Wren's curiosity grows when one of her friends tries to escape and with his dying breath murmurs that the sky is blue. Now Wren knows that something is terribly wrong within the city and she needs to learn more.

What a fun, interesting and imaginative story, full of action, mystery and some romance, with conspiracy and a whole load of mayhem neatly intertwined. Fortunately this is only the first of a trilogy.
