Acclaimed fantasy author Philip Pullman rectifies this by bringing fifty of the originals back to life for a modern audience in Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm. Following each tale, he includes notes on the type of story, how the Brothers Grimm acquired it, other adaptations, and observations on the work itself. These notes are just as entertaining and enlightening as the stories themselves, and are really what set this new collection of fairy tales apart from all others. Anyone looking for a deeper understanding of these stories that have become so engrained in our culture will really enjoy Philip Pullman's Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm.
