Youngsters nine years of age and older will find this a fascinating read. Jerome Pohlen not only chronicles Albert Einstein's life but he also discusses the famous scientist's discoveries. The book is filled with page upon page of historical photographs that accompany the text. There are also entertaining anecdotes and 21 activities and thought experiments that allow the reader to test some of Einstein's theories.

These hands-on activities include calculating the speed of light with a melted chocolate bar, creating a nuclear chain reaction with dominoes, replicating a solar eclipse, and utilizing a marshmallow Peep to create a demonstration of the expanding universe.

'Imagination is more important than knowledge,' wrote Einstein. 'Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.'

You'll find plenty of material in this fascinating book to challenge and pique your imagination. Pay close attention to the sidebars on the work of other physicists sprinkled throughout the book, and have fun with the thought experiments you are asked to try. These will help you better understand Einstein's theories.

Not only is this book ideal for home use but science teachers will also want to check it out. This is a valuable resource that will make introducing some of the concepts of physics to younger students easier and more interesting. Also be sure to check the resources listed at the back of the book.
