Brand New Reader: Sesame Street
Candlewick, 2012 (2012)

ncluded in this set of reading material for beginning readers are 10 individual booklets which feature a brief introduction and suggestions for parents/teachers in making reading simple and more enjoyable for the child.
ach of the booklets also showcases one or more of the Seasame Street characters in a story. The titles include
Big Bird and Grover Move
Cookie Monster and the Parade
. Each illustrated page has just one simple sentence and there are lots of word repetitions so that beginning readers can quickly grasp and handle the text.
n addition to the ten stories, you'll discover an incentive chart with full color stickers, a certificate of achievement, and a make-your-own book so that you can create your own story. There's also a guide booklet for parents/teachers that explains how to best utilize this set at home or in the classroom.
would use this excellent starter kit to initiate reading instruction with a young child. It won't take long at all before the youngster will be confident enough to want to try more challenging material. How soon should you do this? I think you'll notice when your child is ready based on your sessions reading aloud together. Don't be tied down by
age appropriate directions. When the child starts supplying parts of the text and recognizing key words during these sessions, you'll know it is time to start!
