Our old friend, Maggie MacGowan, thankfully, is back on the shelves in The Hanging, eighth in the mystery series by Wendy Hornsby.

Maggie has had her TV series canceled – out of the blue – and she has sought to make a living working with her old friend and college roommate at a small local community college 'til things pick up again.

Turns out it's not the quiet idyll she thought it might prove to be. While photographing a site where a work of art is to be hung, she finds something hanging all right – the president of the college!

The man had been under fire for using college funds to erect buildings and neglecting the students' college endeavors. Also, he commissioned a so-called work of art to replace one that was to be hung during a party for placement of a winning entry in a college arts contest.

He definitely was not a popular man. But to hang him in the place where the new exhibit was to be displayed was rather an ironic gesture.

Lots of action and likable characters pepper the pages of this delightful mystery. Of course, there are a few baddies in there also. Don't miss it.
