Five thieves plot and plan to remove $100 million in black money from the clutches of Curtis Pager, hedge fund manager who has turned out to be an international criminal banker. That much money must be very hard to resist.

Carr, ex-CIA, has become the leader of this little group after the death of their last leader, Declan. Carr is not happy about this but the payoff is hard to turn down. His potential lover, Valerie, is not to be wholly trusted. Latin Mike, a safecracker extraordinaire, is not too happy with Carr but the payout is in his line of thinking.

Bobby is Latin Mike's hanger-on and in charge of surveillance and security. Dennis is the hacker of the team, a genius with his skill but doesn't want gun play.

The team gets wind of a new security chief redesigning the protection around Prager's Cayman Island headquarters. Fearing their plans might be outdated soon, they decide they must move quickly.

Thick as Thieves by Peter Spiegelman is tightly crafted. I did not understand all the financial finagling so it's a good thing I'm not investing anyone else's money. For me, though, that understanding was not paramount to the story. This novel is suspenseful, intriguing, exciting and all around a good read.
