A murderer is on the loose in Stockholm, targeting the CEOs of multinational companies, killing them execution style with two bullets to the head. Detective Paul Hjelm, having saved lives in an hostage situation, is brought into a select force to find this killer and put an end to his/her murdering rampage.

In Misterioso by Arne Dahl, after shooting his/her victims while listening to Thelonious Monks' jazz classic Misterioso, the killer removes the deadly bullets from walls with tweezers! No clues left behind.

Misterioso has a great plot and the translation is right on. The characters seem real to life and the team has a good rapport that rings true. The Russian mafia makes an appearance as a secret society of Sweden's wealthiest citizens is uncovered.

However, this novel is tell but little show. This does not diminish the enjoyment of the book, but a little of the action that is brewing beneath the surface would be welcome.

It has been noted that those who liked Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy would like this one. I feel Arne Dahl can stand on his own.
