More and more picture books reflect different family situations. Melanie Walsh focuses on the child who lives part time with one parent and part time with another in this flip-the-flap book for youngsters three years of age and older.

Since her parents don't live in the same house any more, the child in this book stays with her mom and cat but sometimes spends time at her father's home. First you see the brick house the little girl shares with her mother. Then lift the flap up and her dad's modern apartment building appears. The same holds true on the next page. The reader sees the child's two bedrooms and how they differ in her two homes.

From the toys she has to activities shared with each parent, the book's format highlights the differences in the child's life. But when all is said and done, it is clear that both mom and dad love the little girl very much. 'My mom and dad love me a lot, and so does everyone else in my family,' she writes. And, of course, she loves them both very much.

Divorce can be a traumatic situation for a small child. In this book the author shows that there will be changes in a child's life when this happens but that doesn't mean that the youngster can't enjoy the love and care of both parents.
