Here's the final book in Drake's trilogy featuring ancient Thebes police detective Rahotep. In previous cases the shrewd, royal detective has had to deal with Nefertiti and Tutankamun. This time around he must help the widow of the young king, Queen Ankhesenamun, retain the throne in the wake of Tutankamun's death.

To do so, Rahotep must undertake a perilous, top secret journey to see the King of the Hittites and persuade him to marry one of his sons to Ankhesenamun. This will be the only way the queen can maintain her position and keep General Horemheb from seizing power.

If this weren't enough to occupy Rahotep, his old friend and ex-partner, Khety, has been killed by the members of a new drug syndicate operating in the city. The thugs' attempt to take over the city's underworld and corrupt the government must be stopped or the streets of Thebes won't be safe for anyone.

If you've followed this series set about 3,300 years ago during Egypt's 18th Dynasty, you'll not want to miss this final installment. Hopefully there will be further adventures featuring this wily detective, but Drake has indicated that may not happen so this would be Rahotep's swan song!
