Then the school is taken over (supposedly for the students' protection) by alums, Mark and Theodore Rider, CEOs of Breakthrough Adventure Systems. Elizabeth disappears. Muirin befriends the Riders. Spirit is contacted by Quercus, who offers her help and '
hope in the dark times.
