Artist and author Margaret Peot discusses how to use simple inkblots to spark creativity in this guide filled with tips and techniques that will transform spatters and blots into unusual works of art.

This step-by-step approach will encourage even the most reluctant artist to give it a try. The results will be not only originally stunning but colorful as well.

After listing what supplies will be necessary (eyedropper, paper, ink, straws, etc.), the author begins with a How to do it section. Once you get the hang of it, the fun really begins. This happens when you can do variations of the single inkblots by folding the paper in different ways.

Then there are even more creative things that can be done by adding lines and colors to create recognizable objects or critters which range from stylized people and butterflies to scenes or patterns and designs.

'Throughout this book, you will discover that inkblots are tools for overcoming creative blocks, for inspiring ideas, and for opening up avenues for creative expression,' writes the author. 'Anyone can use this fun and fascinating method to jump-start creative thought ... When you start working with inkblots, you will find yourself seeing the whole world differently every day!'

Although aimed at ages 11 and older, this book also would be of interest to many adults who might like to pursue this avenue of creativity.
