s you read this picture book you'll see what happens when Mama Pig goes out for the day and her piglets have free reign in the house. Everyone rushes into the kitchen where they dig through all the cupboards and rummage through the refrigerator looking for the ingredients for a special surprise they want to whip up.
E
very time the piglets hear a car, they cover up the batter, hide the wooden spoon and run for cover. Fortunately, it is always a false alarm and not their mother returning home.
W
ith chocolate chips flying and dabs of frosting here and there, the kitchen is a disaster zone. Is the surprise ready yet? Not quite! Then Papa Pig walks in the door. '
Oh, no! Who made such a mess?
' he asks.
'
C'mon, Papa, help us. Turn the oven high,
' respond his children. Just in time the job is finished, for Mama Pig is pulling into the driveway. When she comes into the house she smells something good. What could it be?

hat a '
pig surprise
' awaits her when she walks into the kitchen. She hears, '
Happy Birthday, Mama! We love you!
' and there, fresh from the oven, sits a yellow birthday cake on the table!
A
lthough they make a colossal mess, it is all for a good cause in this wonderful tale about some well meaning piggies who make their mother's birthday a very memorable one.
