Modern day technology is way beyond my understanding. So I was a little hesitant to open Hallie Ephron's Come and Find Me - Ephron's protagonist, Diana Highsmith, is a hacker.

At the moment she's a legal one – Diana and her partner are hired by corporations, as well as by individuals, to protect their computer systems from others who are what she herself at one time was – a hacker who hacked just because she could, and caused all kinds of havoc.

Diana has become a recluse since her second partner Daniel fell to his death into a gorge in Switzerland. She lives her life vicariously through her avatar Nadia. Nadia can meet with clients in her place in the OtherWorld, an Internet-based platform. Things are working fairly well until Diana's sister goes missing.

Diana is forced out of her cave-like existence to search for her sister. Unfortunately, she discovers things have been happening around her, involving deceit and betrayal. Her own life, as well as her sister's, is on the line.

My lack of understanding of all the workings of the cyber world was no hindrance to my enjoyment of Come and Find Me. It's a good mystery and the totally unexpected event that wrapped up the story caught me completely by surprise.
