Tai Randolph and her brother Eric have inherited a Confederate-themed gun shop! Wow! Just what Tai wouldn't want, especially since guns are not her favorite thing.

Eric seems to be a controlling brother, but she pays little attention to his rantings. He leaves for the Bahamas for a corporate meeting (must be nice) and she is left to discover a shooting victim parked in front of his house. Things don't look too good for Tai.

Trey Seaver, a field agent for an exclusive security firm, enters the picture. He suffered cognitive and emotional damage in an accident and does not take to being handled well. He's a very interesting character. He puts stumbling blocks in Tai's determination to solve the murder herself and thus clear her own and her brother's names.

Along with Tai, readers enter the seamier side of Atlanta where Tai finds numerous suspects - as well as violent stalkers, vengeful sisters, and a paparazzo with a liking for meth. She has a problem with trust, but trust she must to obtain her goal and to stay alive.

Diverse characters people the pages of this book, along with a well-planned plot. The suspense is carried well throughout the novel. Tina Whittle, author of The Dangerous Edge of Things, has had her short fiction appear in numerous magazines. This is her first novel. I definitely look forward to her second.
