Dewey's Christmas at the Library - by Vicki Myron and Bret Witter, and gorgeously illustrated by Steve James - is inspired by the bestselling Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World. It's aimed at grades K-3.

It begins 'In the small town of Spencer, Iowa' where 'Christmas was everyone's favorite time of year.' Everyone, that is, except for one-year-old library cat Dewey Readmore Books who's still learning about holidays and doesn't know quite what to expect.

But Dewey is intrigued by 'the giant Christmas tree box' and has 'the time of his life' with its contents. When he gets stuck in a paper bag, the children rescue him, and they laugh when he gets tangled up in red yarn. But Dewey loves the tree - he manages to decorate it too, and it wins a prize!

Cats and Christmas go well together - mine love hiding in the boxes and batting at the wrapping paper (and try to eat the tinsel). Anyone who appreciates felines will love this holiday tale, in which Dewey wishes all his young friends a Merry Christmas!
