Certainly this is an expensive book but its cover price of $50 won't seem so outrageous when you see the 403 black and white and 48 color photos the authors have brought together here.

The informative text accompanied by 13 maps follows Patton's command of the Third Army with an emphasis on the use of armor. After he was assigned a decoy unit to draw the German's attention and help set up the successful D-Day invasion that marked the beginning of the end of the Third Reich, Patton was given the green light to take his forces into battle.

He launched a ten month campaign that took his forces across France, through Germany and into Czechoslovakia and Austria. After the successful push eastward, the Third Army would remain in Germany in the American Zone until 1947, when the rebuilding efforts were well on their way.

An oversized volume featuring some remarkable archival photos, this is a book any World War II history buff or someone interested in General George S. Patton's military career will want to own. Damn the cost this is a book you must add to your library!
