Milo was present at the scene of a murder, for which his owner has been arrested. Andy goes to court and is able to spring Milo from custody. Not so his owner. Milo may know where a vital piece of evidence has been stashed. And it seems a number of rather shady people would like to know where. So Milo is placed in protective custody. The tale (no pun intended) goes on from there. And it's almost all fun and games except for the number of murders and buried bodies. Unseen forces are at work, all tied in with a sixteen year-old Iraqi suicide bomber and a security force that dropped the ball. Megabucks are being made while wounded vets are clamoring for adequate medical care. Andy is an unusual lawyer in that he would rather not have any clients. He's not high on the loves-to-work scale. He's surrounded by neat characters notwithstanding his own dog and wife who both support Andy in his non-endeavors. He proves to be very clever at the ending, but Milo grows indispensible to Andy's well-being. Dog Tags is a fun book, something we all need at this moment in time. Author David Rosenfelt has a working sense of humor and he uses it copiously.
