Lake Warren, a marketing consultant, is in the middle of a painful divorce. Depressed, she withdraws from all of her friends except for Molly, a casual friend whose persistence makes her a combination of confidant and coach. A divorcée herself, she likes to point out that she's been where Lake is now.

Four months into the divorce proceedings, just when Lake begins to accept that the divorce isn't necessarily a bad thing, her husband Jack decides he wants custody of their two young children. Her friend Molly is encouraging her to take a work related flirtation with an attractive doctor to the next level, while her lawyer is suggesting that even dating might interfere with the upcoming custody battle.

Lake is working on a marketing campaign for a Park Avenue Fertility Clinic. She gives in to the advances made by the young doctor and they have a one night stand. The next morning she finds him dead. Worried about what will happen to her custody battle if she reports the crime, Lake lies to the police. When they later suspect her of the murder, Lake must do her own investigation.

Lake Warren learns to stand up for herself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Failing is out of the question. This fast paced mystery will keep you guessing until the end.
