Thriller is the right word, believe me. Gillian Coates is assured that her sister's death was a suicide. Dr. Nick Garrity is notified that his best friend, Lieutenant Umberto Vasquez, has simply disappeared as he fought the demons of post-traumatic stress disorder. Neither Gillian nor Nick can accept what they are told. As they try to track the last moments of those no longer with them, they discover a frightening connection between the two individuals. Maybe what seemed random events weren't really so. As they dig further, they realize there is another potential victim – soon to be killed. And would it end there? This tightly written book will keep you on the edge of your seat – one page rushing to the next. The characters seem as though they could step out from the cover and meld into your own life. Hopefully they won't. The Last Surgeon is Palmer's fifteenth book, and he surely has perfected his art.
