Jane Yolen again uses rhyme to tell the stories of little toddler-like dinosaurs who just can't help getting themselves into trouble. But, even with all their silly antics and frustrating stubbornness, mamas and papas still love them.

Yolen's little dinosaurs splash water on the floor, are stubborn at the store, kick the back of the seat, and spill their food! Then they smile that smile, or reach out and take your hand, so how can you be mad? That's the way little dinosaurs say I love you.

One thing I found especially fascinating about this book is Mark Teague's cartoon-like renderings of dinosaur varieties. First of all, each dinosaur incident offers up another sort of dinosaur. There is a nothosaurus and a tsintaosaurus; there is a pachycephalosaurus as well as a kentrosaurus, and many others.

At first, I thought Yolen and Teague made these species up, but that's not the case. These appear in scientific literature. So, even though that detail may be lost on a younger reader, a reader of school age may truly appreciate it. And Teague's drawings are adorable. Kids will love this picture book.
