Anyone who disparages cozy mysteries obviously has not read any of Katherine Hall Page's Faith Fairchild series. They start off running and don't stop for breath until the very satisfactory endings. The Body in the Sleigh is no exception.

Faith and her family are staying at their Sanpere Island house in Maine while Faith's husband recovers from surgery. What should be a lovely, slow moving respite from the demands of Reverend Thomas Fairchild's church duties turns into horror as Faith discovers a dead body in a sleigh decorated for the Christmas season. Who could have put the young girl there? What was their motive? And why is she dead?

An island resident is given a special Christmas present - a baby. Mary Bethany runs a goat farm and occasionally opens her home as a B & B for extra revenue. No identification comes with this gift. Could the two occurrences have any connection? Faith, against her better judgement, digs into both mysteries and finds herself once again in danger.

An added bonus are the recipes at the back of this book - of foods that are served in her story. The Chocolate Bread Pudding has me salivating. I also would savor the Seafood Risotto. At least these are my picks.

Author Katherine Hall Page brings years of experience with cozies. The Body in the Sleigh is her eighteenth novel in this series! She has the unique honor of having won an Agatha Award in all three categories - Best Novel, Best Short Story, and Best First Novel. That alone tells us she has mastered her craft.
