Seventeen-year-old Stella Madison's parents are foodies. Her dad is a famous chef who specializes in French and Northern Italian haute cuisine. His newest venture is Mélange, an upscale restaurant in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia. Her mother has a popular television cooking show on the Food Network, called The Kitchen.

Even with all they have in common, they've been separated for six years although they've never divorced. Their lives intertwine. Her mother keeps her dad's books for his restaurant and he's frequently a guest chef for her show.

Stella is sure that food plays too big a part in her life. When she's offered a journalism internship at the newspaper she jumps at it. She thinks she'll be getting away from her food obsessed life until she's asked to do a food column.

Meanwhile, Stella has boy problems. Her boyfriend of three months tells her he loves her, but Stella is crushing on her mom's hot new intern for The Kitchen. He's older and dating him is out of the question. Even so, he's great for drooling over and just maybe that could lead to other things.

Stella's approach to relationships has a lot to do with her parents' marriage. That summer brings change to their happy separation. The director of the Food Network has her eye on Stella's dad and his cooking has nothing to do with her interest. There's new romance in her mom's life, too. Stella learns there are different kinds of love.

Enjoy The Sweet Life of Stella Madison, but have a snack close by as you read. This book will make you hungry.
