Everyone knows that teenagers are in their own little universe. But what happens when they're forced into new worlds? In a way, that's what happens in the wonderful new novel by Wendy Mass, Every Soul A Star.

The book, published by Little, Brown, is about three very different teenagers whose lives converge at an isolated campground, Moon Shadow. The campground has become a haven for stargazers because it's the perfect spot to witness a rare solar eclipse.

Ally and her family run the campground and she loves living there, even though, gasp, she's miles from the nearest mall. But when the eclipse is over, she's told the family will move to Chicago. Meanwhile, another teen, the pretty and popular Bree, is horrified to learn that her family will take over. While Ally and Bree try to figure out their new roles, a third teen, Jack, has come to see the eclipse but winds up facing his own daunting challenge – remaking his life (and passing science.)

The novel is told from the perspective of all three teens. It's sweetly written and Mass does a fantastic job of interweaving details about astronomy without losing the lighthearted storyline. Most teen literature today falls into a black hole of sex and drama. This is a rare bright spot.
