The subtitle of Fatal Vows, 'The Tragic Wives of Sergeant Drew Peterson', is enough to tell the reader that this is not going to be an easy book to read. It isn't.

It was obvious from the first page that this was an account of a true story. Why? Because no fiction writer would offer such a convoluted plot with so many diverse characters related in so many varying degrees step-siblings, and step-siblings of step-siblings. Stepmothers and stepfathers. The main character, Drew Peterson, will undoubtedly love this book because the spotlight is on him for most of it.

Peterson is allegedly a suspect in his third wife's homicide and in the disappearance of his fourth wife. Nothing can be proved, so he walks a free man. However, he loves the limelight. He has appeared on many TV talk shows and has been the principle of numerous newspaper and magazine articles. Even with his wife still missing a wife who was thirty (30!) years younger he wanted a talk radio show to run a contest for a date with him!

Peterson has six children by three different wives. His first two wives divorced him. The fact that he was in the police force when his third wife sought protection from him may have led to her death. The man is thought to have a certain charm. He looms as a dangerous and unbalanced character throughout Fatal Vows and is still to be brought to trial.
