Aspirin: Volume 1    by Eun-Jeong Kim Order:  USA  Can TOKYOPOP, 2008 (2008) Paperback     Reviewed by Ricki Marking-Camuto I do not understand the title of Eun-Jeong Kim's manhwa – Aspirin. For that matter, I really do not understand the story, either. What I do know, though, is that Aspirin is extremely funny. Used as a scapegoat when King Dan-Goon accidentally unleashes demons, court fool Ondar is sent to capture them. Since he is not a fighter, womanizing, swearing, warrior Haemosoo accompanies him. As they quest for the demons and the spells to capture them, they meet up with a variety of crazy characters, some joining them on their quest. The most confusing part of reading Aspirin is that the chapters do not always flow easily into one another, so the first few pages of each chapter are spent wondering what is going on. However, even without always knowing what is happening, the reader will be able to laugh out loud at the outrageous situations Ondar and friends find themselves in, along with many jokes that poke fun at typical manga conventions. I am still not sure why Eun-Jeong Kim's manwha is called Aspirin, but I do know that reading it can make you feel better. As they say, laughter is the best medicine.
