If you are a fan of cozies, as I am, you will love this mystery taking place in the quaint English village of Long Farnden. A good cozy every so often is like a security blanket – makes you feel comfy and protected. Lois Meade is starting up her own cleaning firm and begins by interviewing potential employees. NEW BROOMS (the name of her firm) puts its crew to work. Lois takes a break from cleaning her new client's house only to find a corpse inside a suit of armor in the tomb of a knight in a wee church!

As her occupation is a good conduit for snooping, the police encourage Lois once again to help in their investigation which, by the way, involves more than a corpse. She helped the police in the first book of this series, Murder on Mondays, with almost disastrous results. Why should it be any different this time? Of course, Lois is in peril.

Lois is a down-to-earth woman with a husband and three kids to anchor her. She always looks for more, though, and investigating seems to be her thing. Although she is grudging at times with the police, she gets the job done – both her cleaning and helping to solve murders.

The small village harbors the same type characters that most villages would, I presume. Hopefully, though, with not as many with mayhem on their minds. I enjoyed the plot twists and the honest conversations Lois has with her husband and her children. Life is far from idyllic but sure worth the effort Lois puts into hers. The wrenching climax works well. I look forward to reading the next in the series, Weeping on Wednesdays.
