Eric Van Lustbader continues his elaboration of the Bourne stories from Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Betrayal in another jet speed, action packed episode, Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Sanction. As usual, it's jam packed with explosive action, shocking violence, and breathtaking betrayals. This time, Van Lustbader delivers a convoluted tale involving a terrorist attack 'designed to cripple the American economy' within two weeks of the story's opening.

Jason Bourne has retired from his Bourne identity to live the ivory tower life of linguistics expert David Webb. Moira Trevor, who was close to Bourne's only friend, CI Deputy Director Martin Lindros, offers him a job safeguarding the security of a liquid natural gas terminal in Long Beach, which he refuses, feeling committed to his university mentor Dominic Specter. In Washington, new Central Intelligence director Veronica Hart comes under attack by her peers, the Pentagon's intelligence czar and his deputy, who plan to take over her agency. On her side is Soraya Moore, aided by young Tyrone, both key players in Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Betrayal. Soraya is investigating Moira. In Europe, a skilled assasin named Arkadin scatters bodies in his wake as he follows the trail of a document critical to the terrorist attack. Arkadin teams up with Devra, a young woman, whose horrific past has left her as psychotic as he is.

Soon Bourne discovers there's more to Specter's life than his treading the quiet paths of academe. He learns about the Eastern Brotherhood organization and the sinister Black Legion who worked for the Nazis but have now turned to terrorism. It becomes a race against time - with Bourne on the run from authorities as always - to stop a terrorist strike - but what is its target and who can Bourne trust? Suspense builds to a crescendo of a conclusion that allies Bourne with his mirror image, Arkadin, before their final conflict. If, like the rest of us, you've enjoyed the Bourne books and movies, you don't want to miss Jason's latest exploits in Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Sanction.
