Now that Bebé has finished his grocery trip with Mamá in Bebé Goes Shopping, she has rewarded him with a trip to the beach.

As in the first book, Bebé's trip to the beach is full of adventure; it is also laced with Spanish words to help young children begin to get a grasp of that language. All of the Spanish words, highlighted in boldface, are understandable in the context of the story and the illustrations, making it a fun guessing game to figure out the translations. A glossary in the back helps with translations and proper pronunciation.

'Bebé's eyes are sleepy, his tummy is llena,
the towel feels cozy on sunbaked arena.
Mamá gets a break now. "At last, descansaré"!
But who had the best time of all?
Sweet Bebé!

The illustrations are just as wild and cartoonish as in the first book. Bebé Goes to the Beach is a good companion to Bebé Goes Shopping, but can certainly stand on its own.
