Author/illustrator Edel Rodriguez introduces young readers to a charming foot high young Argentinian penguin named Sergio - 'He has a beak, wings, and a tail, but unlike most birds, he can't fly.' He loves soccer, fishies - and especially water. But sadly Sergio can't swim!

On a school trip, Mrs. Waddle takes the small penguins to the ocean, and Sergio's friends all jump in, so he does too (amusingly accessorized with snorkel and mask, inner tube and all kinds of floaties) - 'and disappears into darkness.' His friends, Mrs. Waddle, and readers wait impatiently to see what happens ...

Can you guess? Better read Sergio Makes a Splash! to make sure you're right. It's a cute story, enlivened by engagingly cartoon-like illustrations that empathize with the small penguin's fears and celebrate his successes.
