She writes a column for the Palm Beach Post. She receives numerous kudos, and plenty of criticism. She discusses everyday situations and occurrences and at times is very blunt. She realizes she cannot please everyone with what she writes. Her pride and joy in her life are her two young children Franny and James. Charley wants to be a good mother to her children. Her own mother walked away from her husband and four young kids, and now after twenty-two years has returned. Charley is willing to let go of the past and move forward, but her siblings disagree, and Charley's father has disowned her because of her decision. One day Charley receives a letter from Jill Rohmer who is on Death Row, convicted of murdering and torturing three young children. She appeals to Charley to visit her at the prison and listen to her side of the story. She claims she did not tell everything during the trial and wants Charley to write her biography. Charley meets with Jill's lawyer, Alex Prescott, to discuss the idea and make plans to see Jill. After many meetings and numerous phone calls, Jill reveals that she had an accomplice, whom she calls Jack. Charley tries desperately to pressure Jill to reveal his true identity and whereabouts as she knows he is very dangerous. Alex and Charley spend time together on the book and soon find themselves attracted to one another. They begin dating and Charley feels blessed to find such a generous, sincere person, who not only accepts her but also her children. Charley starts to receive threatening e-mails involving the safety of her children. Whoever is sending them seems to know their routine. Could Jill be sending these from prison to scare her? A family trip to Disney World turns to disaster as Franny and James go missing and Charley learns Jack's real name. Charley's Web is a fast paced read, with plenty of twists, that leave readers guessing until the very end.
