Magic in the Mirrorstone is a collection of fifteen new, short fantasy stories aimed at young adults. While the anthology includes tales by well-known fantasy writers such as Holly Black and Ann Zeddies, only one author, Tiffany Trent, is currently published by Mirrorstone.

Each of the stories in Magic in the Mirrorstone is about a teenager who encounters some sort of magic, but aside from that they differ vastly. Some - such as Lawrence M. Schoen's The Amulet of Winter and Gregory Frost's The Fortune Dream - are set in fantasy lands, while others - like Cecil Castelluci's Lights, Camera, Action and Holly Black's Virgin - are set in the modern world. There are historical fantasy shorts, including Tiffany Trent's Blackwater Baby and E. Sedia's Out of Her Element. And there are even retellings of fairytales, such as Eugie Foster's Princess Bufo marinus, Also Known as Amy and Beth Bernobich's Pig, Crane, Fox: Three Hearts Unfolding.

No matter what style of fantasy they represent, all of the stories in Magic in the Mirrorstone are well-written, gripping tales that are sure to find their way into fantasy lovers' hearts.
