Having had four newborn kittens in our home at one point, I was delighted to see Eric Rohmann's charming picture book about four little felines 'who had never seen snow.' Early illustrations show them getting into springtime mischief - as only active, curious kits can do.

Three little kittens are scared of the whole notion of white stuff that would make them 'Cold to the tips of our tails!' But the fourth one has a more adventurous spirit and 'can't wait.' As the seasons pass, three continue to lament the approaching cold spell, but that brave fourth keeps on proclaiming 'I can't wait.'

Then the big day arrives and three kittens hide ... till the fourth shows them what fun is to be had playing in snow. Kids - who tend to be fearful of new experiences - will empathize with the scaredycats, admire the sibling made of sterner stuff, and perhaps be a little more open to new things themselves.
