This fun book is a collection of strange laws that are - or have been - on the books in various states. For example, in Baltimore, Maryland, no one may take a lion to the movies, and if you live in San Antonio, Texas, you had better find another mode of transportation for your monkeys because they are not allowed to ride the bus.

I would not want to be a cat living in International Falls, Minnesota because I would be prohibited from chasing dogs up telephone poles. And I am not sure how I would get to the other side if I were a chicken living in Quitman, Georgia because I would not be allowed to cross the road.

The author also includes commentary about why we have such crazy laws, what would happen if we had no laws, and a very child-friendly explanation about how the United States government operates. The illustrations accompanying the book are as amusing and whimsical as the subject matter. This is a very original idea for a picture book.
