The author/illustrator duo - Marthe Jocelyn and Tom Slaughter - who brought us One Some Many are back with Eats, aimed at very young readers.

In it, they cleverly show us all kinds of critters and what they like best to eat - in simple yet bold and vibrant paper-cut illustrations, with two words per page naming the creature and its food. It starts with a worm in an apple. Then we see a bird eating a worm, a squirrel and acorns, an anteater and ants (my favorite) and so on.

Very small children will be enticed by the primal colors and enjoy identifying each hungry bird, bee or animal and what it likes to eat - some of which they might enjoy too (like the monkey's banana). The last page shows a yummy ice cream cone, with the words 'and who eats ice cream?' I can already hear the yelled out ME's!
