Storm Kayama's fans, stand up and cheer. You know who you are. If you aren't a fan yet, get with the program. Author Deborah Turrell Atkinson has brought her Hawaiian lawyer heroine back to the printed pages for a third time in Fire Prayer. And not a moment too soon.

Storm lives in the Hawaiian Islands. She is asked by an old school friend to come to Moloka'i to make sure his alcoholic ex-wife is taking good care of their young son. Now you know this story cannot be as simple as that. As Storm checks on Jenny, other factors complicate her snooping. The cause of a fire ten years ago is still not resolved. Murder enters the picture. A man has been missing for over two years and thought drowned. On the romantic side, Storm feels her lover Ian Hamlin drawing away. Why? She is not sure; she just knows that things are not as they have been.

The plot alone is enough to carry this very exciting story. The culture of the islands, the smatterings of the language, the foods, clothing, and the glorious surroundings keep your nose glued to the book from start to finish. The lush setting dredges up longings to be a part of the scene. The exciting climax will have you holding your breath. You don't want to miss a word of Fire Prayer, another delightful read in an engaging series.
