Brother Squeak is pounding on the bathroom door as sister Babymouse idles in her morning shower, wanting to be sure that her whiskers are clean and clear of soap. But when her parents remind her that it is the last day of school before summer break, Babymouse whistles a livelier tune.

Babymouse happily attends the last classes, and bids schoolmates farewell, after cleaning out her locker. Her first-rate imagination carries her away on a surfboard, reaching for 'the perfect wave'. At breakfast, mom and dad announced that summer vacation will be at the beach. Babymouse is ecstatic as she remembers last year's camping in a tent, with biting mosquitoes and no bathroom. 'I'm going to the beach!', Babymouse chants over and over.

She's soon loaded with all the trip necessities, but the car ride takes hours, as Babymouse impatiently asks 'Are we there yet?' over and over again. To her dismay, Squeak gets carsick - Eww! sister yells. Babymouse tries to concentrate on her book and her imagination takes off again with African safari adventures. Later, she practices surfboarding, imagining cheers from the beach crowd - 'Go Beach Babe'. But not all works out pleasantly, especially when she falls asleep sunning on the beach!

Jennifer and Matthew Holm garnish Beach Babe with splendid graphics (in Babymouse's favorite color pink), as they give credence to Babymouse's heroic conceptions of her life, along with a lesson in loving brother Squeak. Stay tuned for the next episode of Babymouse, the magnificent.
