Walking guru Leslie Sansone's latest offering is a devotional journal that allows her to combine her two greatest passions - God and walking. A beautiful 30-day journal, Walking the Walk has two devotional sections for each day: one dealing with life in general, and a second entitled Walking for Other Reasons that is based on Scripture and expounds on spiritual themes.

Also included for each day are Un-faith-full Thoughts to try to remove from your life; activities to do that day; Fit Facts to remember; and a journal section to record exercise and other notes. I find it an excellent format. Some devotionals are very short and not sufficiently in-depth; these are just the right length to sit down and read in the morning or while resting from a strenuous walk that day!

Included with the book is a two-mile walking DVD that incorporates uplifting music and Leslie Sansone talking about faith during the exercise. Her extremely happy attitude turns some off from her numerous Walk Away the Pounds videos, but if you take it in stride the workout is excellent. I found this to be one of the simplest but most satisfying of her workouts that I've done. No weights are required and an arm movement is kept simple, but I was pouring sweat by the end of the two miles. I think there may have been some confusion about whether the routine would be two or three miles, because in some places in the book it says it is three.

I highly recommend Walking the Walk to any Christian looking for a great exercise program. A seven-day eating plan is included in the back for anyone looking to jump-start their weight loss; the meals are nutritious and don't have you eating 1000 calories or only dry toast and egg whites. Throughout the book are motivational stories from women who've had success on Leslie's program. All in all, Walking the Walk is a great additional to your fitness library.
