This picture book shows how language and communication change over the generations. While waiting for his grandfather to come home for dinner, Jomar wanders through his urban neighborhood, communicating with everyone in street talk.

'Hey! Look who's zoomin'! Hey, Jomar!
S'up, Jamar! Hit me with it! Faboo!

When Grandpa comes home for dinner and asks how his grandson is, Jomar greets him with an enthusiastic, 'Yo! Chillin’!' Then Jomar says, plainly and simply, 'I love you, Grandpa,' showing that sometimes, the old way of expressing a simple sentiment works best of all.

Isadora uses various artistic techniques for a quirky, bold, and collage-like effect.
