You're in for the wildest ride of your life. Serge and Coleman are back on the streets – Serge just as whacky as ever and Coleman stoned to the teeth. Tim Dorsey's Hurricane Punch brings your very favorite pair of madmen out of seclusion to right the wrongs of the world, while at the same time Serge indulges his passion for hurricanes. The two are chasing the eyes of a series of hurricanes that are pulverizing the west coast of Florida. While they follow the storms, Serge settles a few gripes he has with the world - such as giving a man a taste of his own medicine for blaring the sound system in his car raucously. That his brand of medicine might be a little extreme doesn't phase Serge. And Coleman isn't sure what's going on as he's too doped up to know what's happening. They steal a Hummer for their quest. And rescue some equipment that might have been lost to the storms. Looters, ironically though, are on Serge's black list. A newspaper reporter who gets caught up in Serge and Coleman's flight is being threatened and Serge promises to protect him. What starts out as a couple of idiots chasing storms ends with murder and mayhem. It's hard not to laugh out loud while reading Dorsey's ninth novel. The humor is almost continuous and the one-liners are priceless. Serge's knowledge of the history of the Keys is fascinating. While guffawing, it is hard not to realize that Tim Dorsey is a first-rate writer, his characterizations right on the money. Could he be drawing from reality? His concern for the ecology of the state is obvious. I join my voice with his. Hurricane Punch is a wonderful read.
