Walter is learning to play the harmonica so he can play for his Grandmother when she comes to visit. He can already play Mary Had a Little Lamb. Iris wants to learn to play, too, so Walter gives her lessons and allows her to borrow his harmonica. Iris promises to return it the next day at school, but by morning the harmonica has disappeared.

Walter and his grandmother are very understanding when Iris admits she's lost the harmonica somewhere in her house. They agree to help find it. The mystery of the missing harmonica is solved and both families have a great time, clapping, dancing and singing, and drinking tea.

New readers will enjoy this simple story about Walter and Iris and their families. Baby Rose, Iris' wild baby sister, is a new addition to Iris' family. Colorful pen and ink drawings by Christine Davenier add to the characters emotions and action not covered by the text.
