Ian Falconer's beloved (and determined) piglet Olivia is back in Olivia Forms a Band, illustrated in the author/artist's trademark colors - black and white, red and blue.

Olivia's mother is packing up a picnic to take along to a fireworks show. Strong-willed (some might call it pig-headed) Olivia announces that 'you can't have fireworks without a band' and, getting no support from other family members, sets out to set up a one-pig band. She ransacks the kitchen cupboards and bribes a small sibling to borrow musical toys. She even takes something from her dad.

She makes lots of noise! To Olivia (though not to her family) 'she sounded just like a real band' (a fold-out sheet of her 'Tempo marziale' music is included). The picnic is delicious, the fireworks are beautiful, and there's even a late night, unplanned musical (sort of) encore that will make moms everywhere sigh in recognition. Olivia is priceless!
