Trying to get back to the Jolly Days Orphanage turns out to be a more terrifying journey than the Shluffmuffin twins, Cheyenne and Wally, could imagine when they ran away from the giant ant sisters who wanted to adopt them.

Finally they find themselves out of the Dripping Fang Forest and hitchhiking across the Cincinnati Swamp. They catch a ride with a driver named Verne who is determined to show them the alien brain he keeps in a jar in the trunk.

Back at the orphanage, Hortense Jolly is disappointed that she won't be able to collect the six hundred dollars she was expecting for placing the twins in the Mandible home. She warns them not to tell the other children about the monstrous ants, but Cheyenne and Wally can't help but share their adventures.

Hortense calls the Mandible sisters to tell them the twins are back at the orphanage. When the sisters arrive to reclaim Cheyenne and Wally, they have a bonus for Hortense and suddenly the twins are on the run again.
