This 1st in a graphic novel series for younger readers stars 'a sassy young mouse ... with an attitude problem.' This skinny-legged, curly-whiskered creature dreams of being queen of the world. But if that doesn't work out, she'll settle for an invite to Felicia Furrypaws' slumber party. Her tale is told in a cartoon mix of black and white and pink.

As her day begins in the usual fashion, Babymouse asks herself where's the glamour, excitement and adventure? The fame, fortune and cupcakes? It seems the admired Felicia Furrypaws has them all. Luckily Wilson the Weasel, her friend forever, comforts Babymouse. He invites her to a monster movie fest on Friday. But everyone else seems to be heading to Felicia's slumber party. So Babymouse does what it takes to wangle an invitation ... something she comes to regret.

I love the diversions the story keeps taking every time Babymouse's vivid imagination takes off (which it does often). And this small, spunky heroine does end up queen of her world - in the right way, of course.
