Penguin can't fly like the Flappers. He's a Waddler, and keeps getting pooped on. So he becomes an activist amongst the other flightless birds (Ostrich, Kiwi, Cassowary), announcing that 'it's time for change!' But how will the Waddlers manage to fly?

They go through all kinds of failed inventions before they come up with the Dodo, a hot air balloon. Up they go for a bird's eye view for the first time in their lives! They try all kinds of things they'd never done before (including Penguin's target pooping on a lonely rock). They have great fun until they're caught in a thunderstorm, and must seek help.

Flight of the Dodo is a beautifully illustrated (I love the worm sandwich), engaging story that gives a bird's eye view on the history of flight, and shows how even Waddlers can fulfill their dreams.
