Revenge of the Wannabes is 3rd in a series that follows the ups and downs of Westchester middle school life for girls who are part of (or not) the in-crowd, the exclusive Clique. The episode combines meanness with musical chairs changes in friendships. There's spying, betrayal of secrets, lies and manipulation in this Macchiavellian middle school.

Alicia, one of Massie's core foursome, is restive; she forms her own clique, with new friend Olivia (whom she calls Faux-livia) as beta to her alpha. This makes Massie very insecure, so she invites Claire into her own group, despite Claire's interest in Cam. And Alicia tries to build up her rep by exploiting a meeting with Cam's hot older brother Harris.

Following on from Best Friends for Never, when Alicia and Olivia switched ballot boxes, they're offered modelling jobs with Teen People. Getting their own back for past treachery, Massie and company crash the modeling party (literally at one point). And, despite her mom's lending her How to Win Friends and Influence People, Massie's deserted by all her gang for a while.

Even with her imperial delusions of grandeur, you have to admire Massie's cocky spirit this time around. There's lots of insecurity under the surface and, despire all their maneouvering and manipulations, Massie and Alicia miss each other. Revenge of the Wannabes is tons of fun, much better than episode 2, and it ends with an exciting new role for Alicia.
