Though Happy Never After is an older book (first published in 1995) this does not diminish the action, the humor and the fast pace of a truly enjoyable novel. Note that Trocheck also writes under the name Mary Kay Andrews.

Ex-Atlanta policewoman, Callahan Garrity, has started a house cleaning business - the 'House Mouse' - and has collected a charming group of employees. I'd love to go to work every day if I could start my day with their complaints and triumphs. Sister and Baby, very elderly sisters, manage to clean and also do some groundwork for Callahan's other business - PI.

Two of a 60s singing trio want Callahan to find the third member of their group, who disappeared in the early 70s. This leads to a back door look at the music business and some of the shady characters who people it. Callahan is also wrapped up in a romantic dilemma. Is her boyfriend going to go back to his ex-wife and teenage daughter?

Happy Never After reels from page to page with action, pathos, and clever writing, making it a good choice to curl up with on a rainy day.
