Bet Your Bottom Dollar is a delight. Set in Cayboo Creek, South Carolina, the Bottom Dollar Store provides more than a living for Elizabeth, Mavis and Attalee, three ladies of diverse backgrounds. When a conglomerate threatens the store's very existence, the ladies rise up and take action. But this charming book has more to it than simply little guys fighting back. It's about relationships, close and loving friendships, looking out for other people, and being there in a time of need. It's about realizing that family is family, no matter what. But it's also about fun and laughter and celebrating life.

I've known a few stores like the Bottom Dollar Store in my life, and the book brought back many good memories. The characters sparked memories also. I liked these down-to-earth people, who just want to live out their lives in peace. Headings for each chapter were also a joy: 'If you don't like my driving, stay off the sidewalk!'; 'Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things'; 'Bacteria is the only culture some people have.' Bet Your Bottom Dollar is a breath of fresh air.
